Betadine 10% w/v Antiseptic Solution for Skin Cleansing, 120 ml

Betadine Standardised Antiseptic Solution is a 10% w/v povidone-iodine antiseptic for pre-operative skin cleansing and topical use. The 120 ml solution can be used undiluted or diluted for rinsing and washing where directed.

Product details

• Contains povidone-iodine at 10% w/v.
• Supplied as one 120 ml solution.
• An air-permeable film forms after the undiluted solution dries and can be washed off with water.
• The solution may be applied several times a day.

Directions

• For topical use, spread the undiluted solution over the parts to be treated and allow it to dry.
• For hygienic hand disinfection, use 3 ml undiluted and allow it to work for one minute.
• The solution may be used undiluted or diluted for rinsing and washing; ask a doctor or pharmacist about the appropriate dilution.
• If symptoms do not improve after 2-5 days of regular application, consult a doctor.

Warnings

• Do not use if allergic to povidone-iodine or any other ingredient.
• Do not use in patients with thyroid disorders, including nodular colloid goitre, endemic goitre or Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
• Do not use if taking lithium, for body-cavity irrigation, before, during or after radio-iodine administration, or with products containing mercury.
• Do not use in children under 2 years of age.
• If pregnant, breastfeeding, planning a pregnancy or possibly pregnant, seek advice from a doctor before use. Povidone-iodine passes into the placenta and is secreted in breast milk.
